Today is a windy day. Wind makes you cold, and rain makes you remember. Sitting besides the wide opening window, having some aged feeling, I decided to watch movies, instead of staring at the inbox, and think of “ What, why, how” to reply some mails as a reference response. Sometimes, the worst place is not in Sahara Desert, it’s actually on the chair set in front of your private screen. Out to downstairs, caught “Two weeks” on Star Movies Channel, laid my lazy back on the aim chair, I was watching.
“Two weeks” is a story about the five member family without a roof. The title is also the time left for four siblings to be with their dying holy mother, the only one who can hold her family together. However, this movie’s not impressed me so much, except the appearance of narrator in the movie, the daughter’s. I don’t know if the narrator have any attraction to you to take a deep attention, but it always plays an important role in my watching taste.
So now, you can realize that I’m not going write down anything about this drama, actually I’m telling you about “narrator” :)
Narrator is one of three entities responsible for story telling of any kind. The others are the author and audience specifically to literature. I’ve never questioned myself why I have a special care before, however I think there’s a personal reason related to my personality. Narrator is to tell the story in his own point of view in the story, but he’s not the one who knows everything, remember. Sometimes, the author changed the narrator in turns for the readers understand the whole characters in the stories. And if you used to read Animorphs, a famous science fiction series by K.A. Applegate, you can see the effect of this method.
In movies, the narrator always has a sentimental voice, leading the story to the audience with his strongest feeling. The better he does, the bigger share in his love, in his life I can see. The most recent movie with a narrator’s voice much attracting me is Brad Pitt’s in the cast of “Benjamin Button”. Sometimes you know, I wish I were him, telling everyone some private story with a most honest voice of my own. So I have a silly habit after watching, playing the narrator roles in the film, pretend to telling by reading along what he said. Do you think that’s a good way to feel the work of art better?!
In our lives, everyone can be a teller, but the good one would be the one who can show the deepest thought in his heart, whatever the listener can get or not. It’s just because he take others to his journey, going to and stay in some special places, but only people truly want that, let him does…
P/S: I love express the feeling with my own voice by the way speaking out what’s in my head as a narrator. Talk to myself, everyone, or no one!
Hope in future, I could use this page to do that well! :)
